Cornerstone Theater Acoustics

A story in today's Go! section mentions the electroacoustically tuneable acoustics in Colorado College's new Cornerstone Theater. Here's more about the system - called the Constellation system - from its manufacturer, Meyer Sound.

And here's a review from somebody who's actually experienced the system.

Fascinating stuff. I can't wait to hear Monday's concert and get a first impression.

I was at the 1st concert of Beethoven 9. I don't think the system was on at first, as Sue Grace was very hard to hear during her opening comments. The concert was nice with an audible, but tasteful, reverberation. I found the sound clean but a little bright. I prefer more bass support to 'warm' up the total sound. The orchestra had a nice transparency to it that allowed the woodwinds to be heard clearly while the brass colored the sound nicely. The strings were too bright for my tastes. I haven't been back to the Cornerstone, but I look forward to more performances there. An exciting new space for Colorado Springs!
